Julio and Sanchito at the bar. This assignment was used to illustrate the illusion of space. The bar and bottles form a foreground, assisted by the cut out of the bar, Julio in the middle ground and Sanchito in the background. Done in Copic water proof pen on Bristol Vellum.

Visual Response to Music
An assignment for color theory. We were asked to take a song and make a visual response to it. This assignment was very open ended.
I elected to do the song Fluorescent Adolescent by the Arctic Monkeys.
The song is about a girl who has left behind a promiscuous and exciting past for a drab and bleak existence. I ran into some challenges when completing the background and wound up going for an entirely orange background, instead of my original concept.. I think it contrasts nicely with the brown and creates an analogous color scheme with the pinks and yellows.
The lightning bolts, highlights and roses in her hair, as well as the low backed dress are used to symbolize the exciting and seductive life she has left behind her as it's fading away.
Gouache watercolor and sharpie on watercolor paper. Measurements are roughly 10 by 12 or something like that.
Image is not downloadable, as this is a photo of the work. It is also for sale. Should you want to buy it, I will more finely trim the edges (They are a little crooked)

Some new work from school
Assignment: Surrealism and balance. Words I chose to use as a theme were bugs, umbrellas and mutilation. Done in copic water-proof pen and copic manga markers. Demonstrating asymmetrical balance.
Same assignment displaying crystallographic balance.
Same assignment, radial balance.
Same assignment, symmetrical balance.
Optical Art excercise inspired by the work of Bridget Riley. Used to demonstrate focal point. Design was designed specifically by the way that the synapses in the brain recieve and interperet color.
Stencil regarding a socio-political issue, here the institutionalised racism directed at Mexicans and Americans of Mexican descent. This is apparently going to be printed on a T shirt. The designs on the serape and sombrero are intended to evoke thoughts of Captain America or Uncle Sam.

My scanner isn't big enough for some of my pieces, so please bear with their quality or absence as applicable.
